There are several updates currently available for current versions (2016 or 2019) that can be used by existing customers who want an upgrade path from their current server OSes—but most importantly I expect Microsoft will continue its trend towards offering more features on the same hardware platform at lower cost than previous iterations did (see my blog post titled “Why do we need new generations?”).
